Every Thanksgiving I do different versions of this side dish. I make my own applesauce but one can use applesauce from a jar or a can. Again this is quite simple , and personally I think a nice change for those who want something different in a cranberry side dish. Read more . This may be served warm or chilled. Hope you like this! Ingredients:
3 cups apple sauce- home made or from a jar or can |
1 cup fresh or frozen whole cranberries |
sugar or honey to taste |
dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg to taste |
dash vanilla to taste |
1/2 stick butter |
Directions:
1. Place applesauce in a sauce pot along with the butter, cranberries, and bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and cook till cranberries are very soft and have popped open. 2. Stir in sugar or honey to taste 3. Spice with the cinnamon, nutmeg and a dash of vanilla 4. Serve warm or well chilled |
