For a tropical flair, flavor you julep with Pineapple-Lemongrass Syrup. Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 cup light brown sugar |
1 1/2 cups water |
1 cup pineapple juice |
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice |
15 fresh mint sprigs |
3 (3-inch) pieces fresh lemongrass |
Directions:
1. Boil granulated sugar, brown sugar, and water, stirring often, 2 to 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; add pineapple juice and remaining ingredients, and cool completely. Cover and chill 24 hours. Strain syrup; discard solids. |
