GOT MILK?? Naw...but I got beer! This solves the problem of what to do with that little dab of flat beer left in the bottles from last night. Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup chilled shortening (i prefer lard) |
1 (12 ounce) bottle of flat beer |
Directions:
1. Combine flour sugar and salt in a large bowl. 2. Add the shortening or lard and cut into dry ingredients with a fork or your hands. 3. Flat beer - beer that has lost it's fizz - works best! Otherwise just let the beer get to room temperature; add 1/2 to 3/4 cup to mix. 4. Knead the dough just enough to blend - over mixing will make it tough. 5. Flour a flat surface and spread the dough to a one inch thickness. 6. Cut your biscuits out. 7. Bake at 425°F for about 10 minutes or until brown. |
