This is the best pie crust I have ever worked with. It tastes great and it is easy to roll out and place in the pie plate. Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2/3 cup shortening, plus |
2 tablespoons shortening |
2 cups ice water |
extra flour |
Directions:
1. Mix flour and salt. 2. Add shortening and blend in with a pastry cutter until crumbly, moist and looks like little white peas. 3. Add half of the water. 4. Mix with your hands. 5. Add more water until dough is quite sticky. Depending on your humidity that day, you may not need all of the water. 6. Divide dough in half. 7. Sprinkle 1/2 cup or so of flour onto your table. 8. Roll the flour into the dough, adding more as necessary. 9. Roll dough into a circle, turning often. 10. Makes two 9 rounds. |
