Perfect appetizer or snack to have with a cold one. Easy to prepare and hard to keep around. Love that sweet-hot taste! Ingredients:
2 lb. smoked sausage (i use smoked italian but if try something else let me know how it turns out) |
4 onions |
1 cup water |
3 cups vinegar |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1tsp red pepper flakes (i like to kick this up a bit) |
Directions:
1. Mix H2O, vinegar, brown sugar and red pepper 2. Bring to a boil and simmer 5 min. 3. Cut sausage into bite size pieces 4. Slice onions thinly 5. Alternate layers of 6. sausage & onions in Mason (canning) jars 7. Pour hot brine over sausage & onions 8. Cover and let cool 9. Refrigerate for two days or so for the flavors to meld 10. Enjoy! |
