Go ahead and laugh. But these are GOOD! The recipe is from the Farm Journal Freezing & Canning Cookbook. I made them a couple of weeks ago during a snow storm. We tried them today and they are really good.
Ingredients:
1 lb dried prune
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup vinegar (i used cider vinegar)
12 whole cloves
4 sticks cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
Directions:
1. Soak prunes in water to cover 1 hour.
2. Drain prunes; add enough water to liquid in which they soaked to make 1 1/2 cups.
3. Combine water vinegar, and spices and bring to a boil.
4. Add sugar and simmer for 12 minutes.
5. Place prunes into sterilized jars.
6. Pour liquid over prunes and remove any air bubbles.
7. Seal and adjust with two piece lids.
8. Process 15 minutes in boiling water bath.
