This little snack is a great way to use up stale bread. Adapted from Breads of the World. Ingredients:
1 -2 cup milk |
1 pinch salt |
3 cups bread cubes, cut from stale white bread |
olive oil (for frying) |
1/2 cup flour |
confectioners' sugar |
cinnamon (optional) |
Directions:
1. Combine milk and salt. 2. Soak the bread cubes in the milk for about 5 minutes. 3. Remove and drain on paper towels. 4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet. 5. Dip bread cubes in flour. 6. Fry over medium heat until golden. 7. Drain again. 8. Place on a serving platter and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and cinnamon. |
