This recipe comes from one of the girls that I work with. She makes the most wonderful desserts and we all look forward to the Holidays when her huge cookie trays come into the office. Thanks Phyllis! Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened |
3/4 cup powdered sugar |
1 tablespoon vanilla extract |
1 semi-sweet chocolate baking square, melted |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
24 maraschino cherries |
1 cup powdered sugar |
2 1/2 tablespoons milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 semi-sweet chocolate baking square, melted |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix the butter (or you can use margarine), sugar, vanilla and chocolate. 3. Add the flour and salt. 4. If the dough is dry, add 1-2 teaspoons of milk. 5. Wrap 1 level tablespoon of dough around the cherry (other fillings that you can use are: pitted dates, nuts or chocolate pieces). 6. Bake 1 apart on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes. 7. Allow to cool and dip the tops in the icing (the ingredients for the icing is as follows: 1 cup confectioners sugar, milk, vanilla and melted square of chocolate). |
