This amazing appetizer came about in response to a Group challenge. We are to make a four course meal based on food from the North, South, East and Western parts of the US. I went east for the starter, with the Philly Cheesesteak Jalapeno Popper. Read more . Enjoy! Ingredients:
1- 5 oz steak, diced (i used ribeye; better quality, better result!) |
1/2 red bell pepper, fine diced |
1 small onion, fine diced |
12 jalapenos, halved and seeded |
cheese whiz, or equal. (i used kraft real cheese ) |
1 t olive oil, or butter |
s&p to taste |
Directions:
1. Bake jalapenos in 350 degrees for approx 20-25 minutes 2. In a skillet, add olive oil or butter and heat on medium high 3. Add onion and red pepper, and saute until onion is transparent 4. Season steak with salt and pepper to taste, and add to veggies and cook until brown. Remove any exess liquid. 5. Remove jalapenos from the oven, and generously squirt cheese in each See Photo 6. Spoon steak filling into each, pushing gently into cheese filling to hold it all in place, and then top with more cheese See Photo 7. Bake for addition 10 minutes 8. Turn on the game, and enjoy with a cold beer! |
