This looks so colourful- yellow phirni topped with a red strawberry! I haven't tried this yet, watched it this morning on Mirch Masala, but, I do plan to make it soon! The number of servings is a guess.
Ingredients:
1 liter milk
1/2 teaspoon green cardamoms, powdered
150 g rice, mixed with water below into 1 cup paste
150 g water
100 g sugar
2 teaspoons saffron, dissolved in water
3 -4 strawberries, chopped into small pieces
1 strawberry, chopped in the shape of a fan,to garnish
Directions:
1. Firstly, prepare the rice paste in a mixie by grinding together 150gms rice and 150 gms.
2. water.
3. Keep aside.
4. Bring milk to a boil.
5. Add powdered green cardamom and stir well.
6. Add rice paste, sugar and saffron that has been dissolved in water.
7. Stir well.
8. Cook till the sugar is dissolved and the rice is cooked.
9. Pass through a sieve into another bowl.
10. Mix well and cool.
11. Keep aside.
12. Put the chopped strawberries in a bowl (traditionally, in India, earthen sakoras are used).
13. Pour the above prepared phirni over these.
14. Chill the phirni in order to allow it to set.
15. Chop a strawberry in the shape of a fan and garnish the chilled and set phirni with this.
16. Serve chilled.
