This is the closest I have ever found to the real deal. Unfortunately Gus took his recipe to the Grave but I think I am pretty darn close here! Ingredients:
3 lbs ground beef |
3 tablespoons cooking oil |
3 chopped onions |
2 chopped garlic cloves |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
2 tablespoons cumin powder |
2 tablespoons paprika |
1 teaspoon hot pepper flakes |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
3 cups cold milk |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef, onions and garlic in oil until beef is done.
2. Add remaining ingredients, simmer uncovered till thick. (2 – 4 hours).
