Pesto-Flavored Ham and Pasta Salad

Traditional pesto components (olive oil, garlic, basil, Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts) are tossed into a filling pasta salad.
Ingredients:
1 pound uncooked small seashell pasta
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons extravirgin olive oil
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup (4 ounces) preshredded parmesan cheese
1 cup diced simple baked ham (about 5 ounces)
3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted
Directions:
1. Prepare pasta according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Drain; place in a large bowl.
2. Combine vinegar and next 6 ingredients (through garlic). Add cheese, ham, basil, and pine nuts to pasta; toss gently to combine. Drizzle with vinegar mixture; toss to coat. Cover and chill.
