My great aunt used to make these every holiday season. They were a favorite during family gatherings on my Mothers side. My wife’s’ side of the family find them tasty too. It is a nice break form the normal sweet cookie. Read more . They are best when fresh I don’t think they freeze very well but they seem to get eaten. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1 tsp soda |
1 cup persimmon pulp |
1 cup raisins |
1 cup chopped nuts |
1 well-beaten egg |
1/2 tsp. cloves |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 tsp nutmeg |
1 tsp cinnamon |
2 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar 2. Add well-beaten egg 3. Stir in remaining ingredients 4. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes 5. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart |
