A well seasoned vegetarian option when you feel like something gamy and gourmet! Green Cuisine Cookbook, 2006 Ingredients:
1/8 cup sunflower oil |
2 cups onions, chopped |
2 1/2 cups mushrooms, sliced |
1 1/2 cups water |
1/4 cup pizza sauce |
1/8 cup maple syrup |
1/3 cup soy sauce |
1/8 cup cider vinegar |
1 tbsp ginger, grated |
1 tbsp miso, brown rice |
1/2 tsp basil |
3/4 tsp black pepper |
1 1/2 garlic cloves, minced |
1/4 tsp salt |
1/8 tsp ground cloves |
1 1/2 tsp sunflower oil |
3 tsp white flour |
2 tbsp tapioca starch |
1 tbsp cold water |
250 g seitan , chopped |
Directions:
1. Saute vegetables for 10 minutes. 2. Add water and seasonings and bring to a boil. 3. Mix the oil and flour together to form a paste. 4. Stir the paste into the sauce until it thickens and bring to a boil. 5. Then dissolve the tapioca in the cold water and stir this mixture into the sauce until thickens again. 6. Add the copped seitan and serve. |
