This recipe was passed on to me by my friend, Amy, who got it from another expat friend living in Bitola, Macedonia. The recipe calls for 3/4 tsp peppermint flavor extract but I usually double it so that it has a stronger peppermint flavor. Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups sugar |
3/4 cup melted butter or 3/4 cup vegetable oil |
2 tablespoons water |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
3/4 teaspoon peppermint flavor extract (i usually put 1 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract) |
1 1/3 cups flour |
3/4 cup cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional) |
Directions:
1. Mix all the ingredients together. Grease a 9x13 baking dish and spread the mixture in dish. Bake at 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C for approximately 20 minutes. |
