Pepper Sweet Macadamia Nuts |

This is a unique recipe that combines pepper with sugar and nuts. If you like those pepper Christmas cookies and macadamia nuts, try this recipe. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
1/2 cup packed brown sugar |
1 tablespoon water |
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper |
1-1/2 teaspoons salt |
2 cups roasted macadamia nuts |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Lightly oil a baking sheet. 3. Melt butter over medium heat. 4. Add brown sugar, water, pepper and salt; stir to dissolve sugar. 5. Add nuts and cook, stirring often, until syrup thickens and turns deep brown. 6. Spread onto a baking sheet and bake about 10 minutes. 7. Place baking sheet on a rack to cool. 8. Break into pieces when cool enough to handle. 9. Cool completely and store in an airtight container up to 2 weeks. Makes about 2 cups. 10. Honolulu Star-Bulletin 7/2001 |
