This was a meal that was made quite often in my house growing up. It is quick, easy and cheap!!! Ingredients:
1 lb round steak, sliced into thin strips (cut across grain) |
1/4 cup soy sauce |
1 teaspoon minced garlic |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/4 cup oil |
1 cup green onion, thinly sliced |
2 green peppers, cut in 1 in squares (can also use yellow and red peppers) |
2 stalks celery, thinly sliced |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1 cup water |
Directions:
1. Combine soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Add steak, toss and set aside while cutting up vegetables. 2. In a large pan heat oil until lightly smoking. 3. Add steak and cook until browned, cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes (may need to add a little water). 4. Turn heat back up and add vegetables. 5. Stir until vegetables are tender crisp, about 10 minutes. 6. Mix cornstarch with water, and add to pan; stir and cook until thickened. Eat plain or serve over rice. |
