Simple & easy comfort food. Got the recipe from my cousin who makes it for her family all the time. I just love the way the meat falls apart from the long cooking time. I'm usually making this for just one person or two so it can most definitely be doubled to accommodate more. Ingredients:
1 lb sirloin steak |
1 small onion, sliced |
salt & pepper, to taste |
2 -3 tablespoons butter or 2 -3 tablespoons margarine |
1 medium green pepper, sliced |
1 (12 ounce) jar heinz beef gravy |
1/2-1 cup water |
flour |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. Season steak with salt & pepper. 3. Brown steak with butter & onions. 4. Transfer to baking dish, with little drippings and arrange sliced green peppers around steak. 5. Add gravy and water to slightly cover. 6. Cover dish with foil and bake 2 hours. 7. Wisk flour and water, add to dish and cover for an additional 10-15 minutes until thickened. 8. Serve with rice or egg noodles! |
