Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Fritters |

Great side dish, main dish, or dessert. A bit naughty though, not something to eat every day! Ingredients:
1 cup flour, sifted |
3 tbs powdered sugar |
1/4 tsp salt |
1/3 cup milk |
1 egg, well beaten |
2 medium sized tart apples, thinly sliced |
oil for frying |
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together into bowl. 2. Stir milk into egg and add to dry ingredients and mix well. 3. Mix in the apples. 4. Drop batter by spoonfuls into deep oil heated to 365ยบ and fry about 3 minutes. Turn fritters during frying to brown both sides. Drain on absorbent paper. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen fritters. |
