I thought I would throw this out there, if nothing else just for the historical interest, I ran across it in a cook book I had picked up. Don't know if it is any good or not, but the person that submitted it originally might spark some interest. Read more . It was submitted by Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson; The White House, Washington D. Ingredients:
4 lb ground beef |
1 large onion - chopped |
2 cloves garlic - minced |
1 tsp oregano |
1 tsp comino seed |
6 tsp chili powder or to taste |
2 cans ro-tel tomatoes |
2 cups hot water |
salt to taste |
Directions:
1. Sear meat onions and garlic in large heavy skillet until lightly browned. 2. Add seasonings, tomatoes, and hot water. 3. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer about 1 hour. 4. As chili cooks, skim off fat. |
