Mamaw used to send these to us every year. Year by year there was a greater scent of menthaladum with the cookies. She used it on her hands for comfort her arthritus. The last year or 2 she sent them we actually could not eat them. I had marked a recipe of pecan sandies.....however I found this in her hand in the She Could Cook binder my sister put together about our Mother's recipes. Mamaw was our Father's mother. Ingredients:
1/2 lb butter |
6 teaspoons confectioners' sugar (she called it confectionary) |
2 cups flour |
2 teaspoons water |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
2 cups pecans, chopped |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 250. 2. Cream butter and sugar and work in the rest of the ingredients. 3. Roll small pieces in the palm of your hand, the size of a date. (Please don't use Menthaladum before you do this!). 4. Bake in a slow oven about 30 minutes or until brown. 5. Roll in confectionary sugar. |
