Having a grandpa who used to run his own restaurant, its tough making stuff without his constructive criticism, until I made this addicting recipe. He couldn't get his hands out of it!!! The recipe calls for dates but I used dried cranberries which made it sweet yet salty and totally yummy! Read more !!! Ingredients:
1 tsp ground mustard |
1 tsp water |
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened |
1/4 cup mayonnaise |
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg |
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheese |
1 cup chopped pecans |
1 cup chopped dates (i used dried cranberries) |
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, dissolve the mustard in the water; let stand for 10 min. 2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth. 3. Add nutmeg and mustard mixture. Stir in cheddar cheese and dates/cranberries. 4. Chill for 15 min. 5. Shape int a ball, roll in pecans. 6. Serve with crackers. 7. Refrigerate left overs. 8. Yields: 3 1/2 cups (4 in. ball) |
