Pecan Caramel Cream Squares |

This recipe is from the Taste of History Cookbook....This goes with any party food... Ingredients:
16 vanilla caramels |
24 large marshmellows |
1/2 cup milk |
1 cup toasted pecan pieces. chopped |
1 cup heavy cream, whipped |
1 cup graham cracker crumbs |
4 tablespoons melted butter |
Directions:
1. In top of double boiler place caramels, marshmellows, and milk, being careful not to let the bottom touch the boiling water. 2. Cook, stirring occasionally until all is melted and smooth (about 25 minutes). 3. Remove and cool. 4. Stir in pecans. 5. Carefully fold in whipped cream. 6. Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter; reserve 1/4 cup. 7. Press the remainer into an oiled 10 x 6 x 2 inch pan. 8. Pour caramel mixture over. 9. Sprinkle with remaining graham cracker crumbs. 10. Chill overnight. 11. Cut into squares and serve. |
