This is not a gourmet recipe. One of those that we can put together when the cupboard is getting bare and time short. Have made it often and even for guests - always well received. Of course you can make your own chocolate sauce which is always better. Preparation time does not include freezing time. Ingredients:
2 quarts vanilla ice cream |
1/4 cup green creme de menthe |
26 ounces pear halves |
1 (8 ounce) can chocolate syrup |
Directions:
1. Allow ice cream to stand at room temperature to soften. 2. With rubber scraper, swirl liqueur into it just enough to make streaks; do not overmix. 3. Turn into 3 or 4 ice cube trays and freeze until firm - approximately 4 hours. 4. To serve: drain pear halves; arrange on glass serving dish, mound a scoop of ice cream in center of each pear and pour syrup over top. 5. Of course you can also do it in individual dessert dishes. |
