Ingredients:
7 medium pears, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices (about 5 cups) |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind |
3 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 unbaked (9-inch) pastry shell |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon ground mace |
1/3 cup butter or margarine |
Directions:
1. Combine pears, 3/4 cup sugar, lemon rind, and juice in a large mixing bowl; toss well. Spoon pear mixture into pastry shell. 2. Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and mace in a small bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle mixture evenly over pears. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Cool. |
