An old fashioned pie just like my granny used to make. Ingredients:
prepared 9'' single pie crust |
6 medium pears (peeled, cored) |
1/2c sugar (i use a bit less) |
1tsp grated lemon rind |
3t lemon juice |
2t flour |
topping |
1/2c flour |
1/2c sugar |
1/2tsp cinnamon |
1/2tsp ground ginger |
4t butter |
Directions:
1. Slice 5 pears and cut remaining pear in sixths. Sprinkle pears with lemon juice. Mix sugar, flour and lemon rind together. Stir into pears. 2. Spoon into prepared pastry shell. Arrange the larger pear wedges atop sliced pears. Sprinkle with crumble topping. 3. Bake at 400F for 45mins. or until pears are tender. 4. TOPPING 5. combine flour, sugar and spices. Cut in butter with fingers until crumbly. |
