A very good dessert to make when there are cheap prices on pears. It is a different than usual cobbler but oh so loved by my family. Ingredients:
4 pears, peeled and cored |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/3 cup unsalted butter |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup cranberries |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350. 2. Butter 8x8 pan then dust with a small amount of sugar. 3. Cut pears in half and toss them gently with the vanilla in a medium bowl. 4. Add 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix gently. 5. Set in the prepared pan with the core side down. 6. In a separate bowl add the butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour and salt. 7. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter mix together to form crumbs. 8. Add the cranberries and put this on the pears. 9. Bake 34-40 minutes until bubbly and the fruit is soft. |
