I don't see why you could'nt try this with well-drained canned peaches if fresh peaches are not available. Yummy!! Ingredients:
8 cups sliced & peeled peaches |
2 tablespoons sugar |
2 tablespoons orange juice |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon grated orange rind |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2/3 cup flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
salt |
1/3 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Combine peaches with sugar, orange juice& nutmeg. 2. Spoon into a 11x7 baking dish. 3. Topping: Beat butter with sugar til fluffy. 4. Beat in eggs one at a time. 5. Stir in orange rind and vanilla. 6. Stir 1/2 dry ingredients into batter, then stir in milk and then rest of flour. 7. Spread on peaches and bake at 375 for about 50 minutes. |
