Pattis Turkey-vegetable Chili

Zesty chili with ground turkey and vegetables. Can be simmered on stove or thrown in a crock pot. Better still the next day!
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground turkey
1 1/2 tblsp chili powder
3 cups water
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 cups diced zucchini
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup thinly sliced carrot
2 (14 oz) cans no-salt whole tomatoes (undrained and chopped)
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 (14 oz) can kidney beans (rinsed)
1/3 cup no-salt tomato paste
1 large clove garlic (minced)
2 tblsp canned chopped green chilies
2 chopped jalepenos (optional)
Directions:
1. Cook meat in a large dutch oven over medium heat until browned, stirring to crumble.
2. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
3. Wipe drippings from pan with a paper towel.
4. Return meat to pan.
5. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil.
6. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
7. Yield: 3 quarts
8. About 197 calories per 1 1/2 cup serving
