Easy as one, two, three! Everyone loves this - from kids to adults. Also great as leftovers and is super served alone or with grilled chicken. Ingredients:
6 cups penne pasta |
1 pound bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces |
1 onion, thinly sliced |
3 1/2 (10.75 ounce) cans chicken broth |
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes |
Directions:
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and reserve. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of bacon fat. 3. Add sliced onions to skillet and cook over medium heat in bacon fat until slightly browned. Add broth, hot pepper flakes, and bacon; simmer until ready to serve. 4. Add penne to mixture in skillet and heat until warmed through; serve immediately. |
