This syrup is used for soaking cake layers prior to frosting. Most typical in French Pastry Special and Decorative cakes. Usually a liquor is added that matches and enhances the type of cake and frosting used.
Ingredients:
2 lbs water
2 lbs sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons liquor
Directions:
1. Boil water and sugar 1 minute.
2. Cool.
3. Add vanilla and liquer.
4. Apply with pastry brush; laying on; not brushing.
