This is from Recipes + magazine. It's a quick, simple, economical version of pastitsio, and is a definate kid pleaser! Ingredients:
200 g penne |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1 onion, finely chopped |
2 garlic cloves, crushed |
500 g ground beef |
500 g pasta sauce |
340 g fresh bechamel sauce |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. 2. Grease a 22cm springform pan, and line base and sides with baking paper. 3. Cook pasta until tender. Drain. Return to pan. 4. Heat oil in large frypan. Add onion and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes. 5. Add mince and cook until brown. Add pasta sauce and 1/4c water. Simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes or until sauce thickens. Add to pasta. 6. Combine bechamel sauce and eggs. add 1/2c to pasta mix, stir to combine. 7. Place pasta mix in pan. Smooth surface. Pour over remaining sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan. 8. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden. 9. stand 20 minutes. Slice into wedges and serve. |
