Not the most traditional version by a long shot, but this my family love this recipe. Ingredients:
500 g lasagna noodles |
125 g butter |
2 medium onions, finely chopped |
500 g mincemeat |
1 medium tomato, chopped |
salt and pepper |
4 tablespoons tomato puree |
1/2 cup cheese, grated |
50 g butter |
3 tablespoons flour |
60 ml milk |
1 egg |
1/4 cup cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Cook and drain lasagne. 2. Cook mince, onion and butter together for 2-3 mins, stirring often. 3. Add tomato, salt and pepper, tomato puree. 4. Continue to cook until meat is tender. 5. Blend in 1/2 cup grated cheese. 6. Put 1/2 of the lasagne in greased casserole dish. 7. Cover with all meat sauce. 8. Top with remaining lasagne. 9. Make the bechamel sauce: Melt 50g butter, blend in 3 tbsp flour and cook gently for 1-2 minutes Gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring frequently, until thick. Beat in 1 beaten egg and 1/4 cup grated cheese. 10. Pour bechamel sauce over dish. 11. Bake at 180 deg. C for 40 - 50mins or until top nicely browned. |
