There are many variations of this candy in the Mediterranian. Some are hard and crunchy and some are chewy like this one Ingredients:
1 cup mild honey |
1 cup sesame seeds, toasted |
1/2 tsp. salt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 2. Toast sesame seeds on baking sheet for 5-10 minutes or until just slightly darker 3. Put silpat on sheet pan 4. Oil inside of spring form ring(put bottom of pan aside) 5. Place upside down in center of silpat 6. In a saucepan, bring honey, sesame seeds, and salt to a boil over medium heat, stirring until it starts to boil 7. Boil undisturbed until mixture read 285 on thermometer (about 15 minutes) 8. Pour mixture into ring 9. Cool until candy sets, about 1/2 hour 10. Unmold, and slice into bite size pieces with an oiled knife |
