Contrary to popular belief, Passion Fruit is named for the bloom of the Passion Fruit flower which is thought to symbolize various parts of the Passion of Christ (such as the crown of thorns and the nails of the crucifixion) and not because of passionate powers it was once believed to contain. Read more . One way to serve this sweet-tart sauce would be with Melissa's ready made crepes and top with whipped cream if desired. From Melissa's in a Minute Ingredients:

passion fruit pulp (seeds strained if desired) about 6 needed |

sugar |
tablespoons |
cornstarch |

water |
egg yolk |
tablespoon |
butter or margarine |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar and cornstarch in 1 quart sauce pan, stir in passion fruit pulp and water. 2. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds. 3. Beat 1/4 cup of passion fruit mixture with egg yolk, then combine yolk with remainder of the fruit mixture. 4. Add butter and continue to cook until well blended and thickened. |
