I used to make beans from scratch ( soaking, cooking etc ) but my family loves this particular recipe I have had in my files for years ,using the canned baked beans. You don't need a slow cooker either, stove top prep or oven heating is fine too Ingredients:
3 large cans of vegetarian style baked beans ( these are usaully pre sweetened already) |
1 pkg of cocktail franfurters, sliced ( may not use all ) |
1 onion fine chopped and sauteed until soft and tender |
worchestershire sauce to taste, good splash |
white vinegar to taste |
brown sugar to taste if sweetner taste is desired |
dijon mustard to taste |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Empty beans in a large casserole dish ( or could be a crockpot ) 2. Add the onions and sliced cocktail franks 3. Season with a good splash of worchestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar( if more sweetness is desired ) some mustard and salt and pepper to taste 4. Heat all so flavors blend 5. Taste best if made ahead of time and reheated |
