This is a very sour french toast with cream cheese, walnuts, mint and cinnamon very sourly sweet and decatent. Not just for the birds, either... Served in a coffee house with lines around the corner in San Francisco. Read more .... Ingredients:
sour dough bread |
cinnamon |
fresh mint |
cream cheese either regular or low fat or fat free will do |
walnuts |
bananas |
strawberries |
brandy |
dark chocolate shavings |
whipped cream optional |
low fat syrup or the real stuff |
Directions:
1. Put three or four eggs or egg white equivalent in large bowl with a splash of brandy and beat with a fork. Then get the pan ready with pam or butter or margarine whatever you like. 2. slice up bananas and strawberries 3. (slice up some real san francisco sour dough bread or a very sour bread your favorite) 4. dip this in the egg batter that also contains a splash of brandy...no milk here. 5. then let the bread get brown in fry pan and turn it over... 6. when done place on plate and spread cream cheese on top of the sour dough bread then place strawberries and bananas on top of bread...then add chopped up walnuts and freshly chopped up mint on top...then sprinkle some cinnamon and top with syrup. 7. If you want a dab of whipped cream on top really gives this a punch or bam....and if really want to bam it add some dark chocolate shavings,, as well... 8. sourly sweet and yum yum. cruncy, delightful and decatent!! |
