This gingerbread from England stores well in an airtight container at room temperature. Recipe courtesy - emazing Ingredients:
3/4 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ginger (fresh or powdered) |
1/8 teaspoon clove |
3/4 cup oatmeal |
3/4 cup dark corn syrup |
1/4 lb butter |
1/2 cup light brown sugar |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon milk |
Directions:
1. Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. 2. Blend in the oatmeal. 3. Place the syrup,butter and sugar in a saucepan. 4. Heat until just blended. 5. Stir into the dry mixture. 6. Beat the egg with the milk. 7. Add to the mixture. 8. Pour into a lightly greased cake pan. 9. Bake at 275 for 1 1/4 hour (or until firm in the middle). 10. Cool before serving. |
