This is a Finnish recipe and is enjoyed at breakfast. I haven't been able to convert the measurements but I will get around to it. Ingredients:
pancake |
4 eggs |
2 dl cream |
1.5 dl almond flour |
2/3 cup = 1.6 dl |
50 g butter = 3.50 tablespoons or 10.5 teaspoons |
vanilla, almond, cardamom or choose something you prefer as flavouring |
1 litre = 10 dl = (more than) 2 pints |
1 decilitre = (less than) 1/2 cup |
1 deciliter = 0.1 liter |
8 ounces (1/2 pound) = 250 grams |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 C or 350 F or Gas Mark 4. 2. Melt the butter. 3. Mix all ingredients (eggs, cream, almond flour, butter and the flavouring). 4. Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 180 C or 350 F oven until it looks lightly browned. 5. Topping: 6. Strawberry quark 7. 250 g quark 8. 120 g soured cream 9. Strawberries 10. Mix all together. It depends where you are living but if you haven't heard of quark then you can use yogurt with a higher fat content. 11. Quark: 12. Quark (or qvark) is a type of fresh cheese from Central Europe. Dictionaries usually translate it as curd cheese. It is soft, white and un-aged, similar to Fromage frais, but with a higher fat content. It is not the same thing as cream cheese or cottage cheese. Some have compared it to ricotta. It is distinctly different from ricotta because ricotta (Italian: recooked) is made from scalded whey. |
