When we go to the Italian restaraunt Buca Di Beppo, we like to order their Pan Fried Mozarella as an appetizer. This is pretty close to what they serve. Serve with marinara if you like. Ingredients:
8 oz. mozzarella, fresh ball |
1/2 c. flour |
salt and pepper to taste |
1 egg |
1/2 c. bread crumbs, italian seasoned |
extra virgin olive to pan-fry |
Directions:
1. Slice the ball of mozzarella into 8 slices with a serrated knife. 2. Put the flour and some salt and pepper in a small bowl. 3. In another bowl beat the egg and mix with a little water. 4. In a third bowl add the bread crumbs. 5. Gently pat each mozzarella slice with flour, dip in the egg wash, and then coat with bread crumbs. 6. In a large skillet, heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. 7. When hot, add the slices and pan-fry for about a minute on each side, so they are nicely browned and the mozzarella softened. |
