Pan-Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 large green tomatoes, cut into 1/2-inch slices
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons brown sugar, divided
Directions:
1. Combine flour, salt, and pepper; stir well. Dredge tomato slices in flour mixture.
2. Melt butter in a large skillet. Fry tomato slices on one side until browned. Remove from skillet, and place in a 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish, browned side down.
3. Top each tomato slice with 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Broil 3 inches from heat 5 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
