This bread is a staple on almost all breafast tables for Filipinos It does involve a lot of work and patience is required in making this nice bread. Ingredients:
1 t yeast |
1/3 c sugar |
1 1/3 c lukewarm water |
3 t shortening |
1 t sugar |
4 c bread flour |
1 t salt |
bread crumbs |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in water 2. Add sugar, salt and shortening. Mix well 3. Add flour gradually 4. Knead until smooth and elastic 5. Let rise until double in bulk about 1 hour 6. Punch down. Let rise for 30 min 7. Divide into 2 8. Roll out 1 ball into an oblong 9. Roll up on the long side. Seal with each turn 10. Let rest for 5 min 11. Cut into desired size. 12. Roll in crumbs 13. Arrange on an un-greased sheet which has been dusted with bread crumbs 14. Place on the sheet with the cut side up 15. Let rise for 1 hour or until double in size 16. Bake at 400°F for 15 min. |
