I created this dip as a nod to the Packers, who won this year's superbowl! It combines their beloved cheese, sausage, and...beer! Serve this on toasted bread rounds or, thin it just a touch more to use for crackers or chips. Read more . :) Ingredients:
16oz cream cheese |
3 cups shredded colby or cheddar cheese |
1/2 cup half and half |
1/4 cup good beer |
3t dijon(whole grain or honey dijon would both work well) |
1 small onion, grated |
1 clove garlic, minced |
2t smoked paprika or 2t sweet paprika and a dash of liquid smoke |
1t worcestershire sauce |
kosher or sea salt and fresh ground black pepper |
1lb smoked sausage, chopped(i used specialty sausages, but any of your favorite precooked sausage would do, just don't use partially cooked or raw) |
2lb baguette, sliced into rounds |
olive oil |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients except bread and olive oil, in small crock pot. 2. Cook on low for about an hour, stir well, then continue to cook until heated through and completely melted. 3. Meanwhile, drizzle bread rounds with olive oil and bake in a 400 oven for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden brown around edges. 4. Serve dip hot, with bread rounds. |
