Pa Dutch Sweet Sour Macaroni Salad |

This is a Pennsylvania Dutch recipe. This is my mom's recipe. I converted my husband to this type of mararoni salad. Ingredients:
1/2 pound mararoni, cooked until tender |
1 cup mayo |
1/4 cup yellow mustard |
1 cup chopped celery |
1 cup chopped onions |
1/2 dozen hard boiled eggs |
2 grated carrots |
Directions:
1. Put in double boiler and boil: 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/4 cup flour, 1 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup vinegar. 2. add mayo and mustard to boiled mixture. whisk until smooth. 3. pour this dressing over macaroni and other ingredients except eggs. 4. slice hard boiled eggs on top 5. NOTE: this will start out very runny. It needs to sit several hours or overnight to thicken. |
