A family favorite for New Years Eve dinner but can be served at any time. Goes well w/ a side salad and a hearty bread. Ingredients:
2 pints fresh oysters and their liquid |
4 cups whole milk |
3 tablespoons butter |
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. In two separate sauce pans: 2. Pan 1: Heat oysters and their liquid for about 5 minutes, until edges of oysters curl. 3. Pan 2: Heat milk until very hot (stir often) add butter and onion to milk when hot. 4. Combine oysters and liquid with the milk mixture. 5. Serve immediately. 6. Salt and pepper to taste. 7. Recipe can be halved or doubled. |
