In 'Cheater BBQ'. You can smoke all kinds of nuts-peanuts, pecans, etc.-but the nuts must be raw. Ingredients:
2 cups raw almonds |
1 tablespoon peanut oil or 1 tablespoon olive oil |
1 tablespoon liquid smoke |
1 teaspoon seasoning salt (lawry's) |
cayenne pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300°. 2. Combine all the ingredients in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan or rimmed baking sheet. 3. Toss until the nuts are well coated with the oil and seasonings. 4. Spread the nuts in a single layer. 5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the nuts are fragrant and toasted (stay close to the oven during the final 10 minutes or roasting-the toasty fragrance will let you know when they are ready). 6. Cool the nuts and store them in a tightly covered container. |
