Adapted from 30 Minute Meals, a tasty version of gorp! Ingredients:
3/4 cup maple syrup |
1 cinnamon stick |
1 vanilla bean, split (or 1 tsp. vanilla) |
1 cup oats |
1 cup hazelnuts, peeled (or pine nuts) |
2 cups whole natural almonds |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/2 cup dried sweetened cranberries (craisins) |
1/2 cup shelled pumpkin seeds (or sunflower seeds) |
1 cup m&m's peanut chocolate candy |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375*F. 2. Place the maple syrup on the stove with cinnamon and vanilla over medium low heat to incororate the flavors. Warm the syrup for 3 minutes, and remove. If you don't have the vanilla beans, substitute 1 teaspoons vanilla. 3. Combine oats, hazelnuts(or pine nuts), almonds, raisins, craisins and seeds in a bowl. Toss with maple syrup and remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean. 4. Spread the maple coated mixture out on a baking sheet and roast 15 minutes. Remove the nuts from oven and transfer to another cold pan, tossing the mix to quick-cool it. 5. Once cool, toss with m&ms and eat, or pack for a hike! Enjoy! |
