As a kid, I always loved it when my mom would make oven fried chicken legs. It was one of our favorite dinners! Now that I'm a mom, I'm continuing the tradition, and my family loves this recipe! Ingredients:
15 chicken legs |
6 cups water |
1 cup white vinegar |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup salt |
2 cups flour |
2 teaspoons garlic powder |
2 teaspoons onion powder |
2 teaspoons salt |
2 teaspoons dried parsley |
2 teaspoons paprika |
2 teaspoons dried rosemary |
1 teaspoon ground sage |
1 teaspoon celery salt |
1 teaspoon dried basil |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
1 teaspoon ground thyme |
6 tablespoons butter, melted |
Directions:
1. Combine water, vinegar, salt and sugar to form a brine. Place chicken legs in a large plastic container and cover with brine for at least 2 hours. 2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 3. Pour melted butter into large 15 x 12 cooking pan, such as a jelly roll pan, coating the bottom of the pan. 4. In a large zip-top bag, combine remaining ingredients. 5. Place 4-5 chicken legs at a time in bag. Shake to coat. 6. Place chicken in pan. 7. Bake approximately 1 hour, or until juices run clear; turning chicken legs after about 30 minutes. 8. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving. |
