This recipe originally came from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. My mom and grandma have been making it since I can remember. Don't skip the onion on top, even if you don't like onion; it's a subtle addition that makes the meat really yummy. Ingredients:
3 -4 lbs country-style pork spareribs, cut in pieces |
1 lemon, thinly sliced |
1 large onion, thinly sliced |
1 cup ketchup |
1/3 cup worcestershire sauce |
1 1/2 cups water |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 dashes tabasco sauce |
1 teaspoon chili powder |
Directions:
1. Salt ribs and place in a shallow pan meaty side up. 2. Roast at 450 degrees for about 30 minute. 3. Drain fat from pan. 4. Top each piece of meat with a slice of onion and lemon. 5. Make Basting Sauce: Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Pour over ribs. 6. Lower oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake until well done, about 1 1/2 hours. 7. Baste ribs with sauce every 15 minutes. If sauce gets too thick, add a little water. 8. **really good served with baked potato and green salad. |
