Oven-Barbecued Country Pork Ribs |

Ingredients:
1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided |
1 small onion, finely chopped |
1 clove garlic, minced |
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste |
3/4 cup water |
1/2 cup vinegar |
2 tablespoons sugar |
4 whole cloves |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
1 bay leaf |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1/8 teaspoon chili powder |
4 drops hot sauce |
4 to 5 pounds pork ribs |
Directions:
1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until golden brown. Add remaining ingredients, except ribs; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer sauce 45 minutes. 2. Place ribs in a single layer in a 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 325° for 40 minutes. Drain off pan drippings; discard. Pour barbecue sauce over ribs. Bake at 325° 40 minutes or until tender. Remove cloves and bay leaf before serving. |
